Activity Update from We Love Dogs

As you will be aware we announced a year ago our rehoming programme was being shut down.

However, the trust has been busy building their neutering programme as funding became available and have successfully implemented our programme over the past 18 months. Funding needs are ongoing, and we hope to be able to continue this vital programme in Taranaki.

While the need to rehome or adopt dogs has not declined, our focus has moved to preventing more litters being born contributing to a huge demand for dogs needing new owners.

There is still a huge demand to rehome dogs with a variety of contributing factors. We are seeing almost daily requests to help with rehoming leading to a “rehome on behalf” programme also being implemented.

We Love Dogs continue to support dogs, their owners, and our wonderful community. Our priority is to focus on neutering programs, offering advice to owners who need help with their dog’s behaviour, puppy and adolescent classes, assisting owners with rehoming, and creating dog-related resources on our website. Links to rehoming assistance, neutering and fostering can be found on this website and on our Facebook site “We Love Dogs Charitable Trust”.

We Love Dog’s Barkets continue throughout the year, a fun and safe place for dogs and their owners to socialise and enjoy a coffee.

We continue to seek foster caregivers, advertise on behalf for dogs needing rehoming and encourage dog owners to apply for neutering appointments through the trust.

In addition to the trust having adopted over 150 dogs since 2020 we now have well over 150 additional dogs desexed. We give our thanks to our amazing fosters and volunteers and the expertise of vet services to achieve these results.  The dedication and time given to the trust has made this possible, ensuring the best outcomes for our rehomed dogs.

We truly appreciate everyone who has helped and supported us. We remain committed to advocating for dogs and their well-being.

With gratitude,

The We Love Dogs Team
