Barket and Expo

One of the aims of the We Love Dogs Trust is to bring the dog community together. We do this is through our regular “Barkets.”

Our Barket is a market focused on dogs, and we actively encourage people to bring their dogs along. Of course, the We Love Dogs Trust supports and promotes responsible dog ownership, so if your pup wouldn’t handle a Barket very well, please leave him or her at home.

If you can’t bring your pooch along and want to address any of your doggie’s issues, you can speak to one of our friendly team at the Barket, and they’ll point you in the direction of a behaviorist or trainer.

We have plenty of dog related stalls at our barkets along with some non-dog related stallholders. Dog related rehoming charities, such as Greyhounds as Pets, are welcome, and charity stalls are free. We will have food and coffee available to purchase, so why not stay for lunch.

Dogs can be on or off lead at the Barket. If your dog is off lead, please ensure you have voice control of your dog at all times. We promote responsible dog ownership and expect owners to carry “poop” bags and dispose of these as necessary. Just ask us if you need a bag.

We recommend having your dog on-lead around the stalls and food area, and there is plenty of open space where dogs can have a run and play.

The trust also host a “Bouncy Castle” for younger children attending.

The Barkets are held at the Northpoint field in Bell Block, down Mangati Road. Many thanks to the Northpoint community trust for their support.

We Love Dogs Expo

Every 2-3 years, we hold a Dog Expo, similar to the successful one at the Hounds Hangout in 2018. Bigger and more extensive than a Barket, the expo showcases doggy businesses from all over New Zealand and incorporates educational seminars, displays, and some fun competitions.

Want to have a stand at our next barket?

If at all interested in participating with a stall at our barkets please email us. Otherwise, keep an eye out on our events page.
